It was customary to decorate the Messerschmitt planes with figures from pop culture, a tradition that started during the First World War. Mickey Mouse was a favorite motif on the German warplanes during the Spanish Civil War. The Nazis invented carpet-bombing, a technique to eradicate cities off the map, were in turn used against them and pushed the world towards the development of the atomic bomb.

Vebjørn wanted to explore the genesis of the fear that humanity lives with in the modern era, the fear of eradication from the skies.
